AUGMENTIN DUO 625MG TABLET is used to manage bacterial infections, including middle ear and sinus infections, respiratory tract infections, genital tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections such as dental infections, bone and joint infections, septic abortion, and abdominal infections. The symptoms of bacterial infection include fever, difficulty breathing, pus formation, and pain.
It contains a combination of medicines called, which belong to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It works by preventing the growth of bacteria and helps clear up the infection.
AUGMENTIN DUO 625MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have liver problems or jaundice upon taking an antibiotic or amoxicillin-clavulanate. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are suffering from a hepatic impairment, liver disease, renal impairment, kidney disease, glandular fever, or are unable to pass water properly.
AUGMENTIN DUO 625MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary. It should be used with caution in children (aged below 12 years) and elderly patients (above 50 years).
The common side effects associated with the use of AUGMENTIN DUO 625MG TABLET are diarrhea, thrush (fungal infection in the vagina, skin folds, or mouth), nausea, and vomiting. Contact your doctor immediately if any of the symptoms worsen.

Bacterial infections:
Bacterial infection occurs when bacteria enter your body and start multiplying which may cause tissue damage and make you sick. Mostly it is caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus organisms. The bacterial diseases are cholera, bacterial meningitis, tetanus, gonorrhea, pneumonia, and syphilis. Symptoms include fever, chills, and sweats, inflamed lymph nodes, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain
Urinary tract infection
It is a type of infection that affects the urethra, kidneys, and bladder. It is caused by Escherichia coli (E.coli). Symptoms include abdominal pain, frequent urination, dysuria, blood in urine, foul-smell while urinating
Acute bronchitis
It is a viral infection that causes inflammation in the bronchial tubes. It is mostly caused by rhinovirus, adenovirus, influenza A and B, and parainfluenza virus. Symptoms include cough, fatigue, breathing difficulty, fever and chills, and chest discomfort.

AUGMENTIN tablets contain both amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. These substances has a very strong antibacterial effect when combined with other antibiotics. AUGMENTIN tablets belong to a class of antibiotics known as beta-lactamase inhibitors. Amoxycillin is the active ingredient in AUGMENTIN tablets. Clavulanic acid is an empirical antibiotic. It works by inhibiting the enzyme which is necessary for the synthesis of clavulanic acids.
AUGMENTIN tablets are used for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible to resistant organisms. The most common resistant organisms are streptomyces, carbapenems, kanji, streptomycin and other tetracyclines. The most common resistant streptomyces isydia which is caused by the use of resistance organisms such as A. nysticollis, K. pneumonia, M. glycogenes and M. lactis in combination. The use of AUGMENTIN tablets has been associated with the development of urethritis. Urinary tract infection with the species urethritis has been observed in some patients taking AUGMENTIN tablets. Other infections caused by resistant strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae have been shown to be caused by the use of AUGMENTIN tablets.
AUGMENTIN tablets are only effective against infections caused by resistant organisms such as Haemophilus influenzae.

Some liver problems may occur. If you have any such problems, talk to your doctor.
Liver disease may also occur in patients taking AUGMENTIN tablets. Patients with severe hepatic impairment may need to take different doses of AUGMENTIN tablets.
AUGMENTIN tablets may increase your risk of getting bleeding. If you have ever had any stomach or intestinal problems after taking amoxycillin, potassium loss, or other antacids, you may have AUGMENTIN tablets increased blood pressure. Patients with kidney problems may have a lower blood pressure that will not be able to be normalised at the time of taking AUGMENTIN tablets. If you have ever had an allergic reaction to any medication, contact your doctor.
AUGMENTIN tablets may cause a condition known as Cmp-o-amoxicillan-induced liver damage.
Cmp-o-amoxicillan-induced liver damage is usually temporary. The liver produces chemical substances called amines which can cause liver damage. Amine-allosterates in AUGMENTIN tablets increase the likelihood of developing liver problems. Also, the amount of amine produced by the liver can increase when AUGMENTIN tablets are taken with AUGMENTIN tablets. This can increase the risk of stomach bleeding.
Cmp-o-amoxicillan-induced liver damage may occur during or after starting or increasing the dosage of AUGMENTIN tablets. In addition to taking AUGMENTIN tablets, you may need to take different doses of AUGMENTIN tablets.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant, you should not take Augmentin 1.2gm if you are allergic to other medicines. Augmentin 1.2gm can make you more sensitive to sunlight, sunbeds, or UV rays. If you have liver problems or are taking other medicines, you should not take Augmentin 1.2gm if you are allergic to Clavulanic Acid. If you have kidney problems, you should not take Augmentin 1.2gm if you are taking clavulanic acid. Always tell your doctor if you are not sure about other medicines or other illnesses you may have, such as diabetes or a heart problem.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Augmentin 1.2gm?
If you miss a dose of Augmentin 1.2gm, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
